How do websites get hacked? Why do hackers want to hack your website?

Today a website plays a very important role in every case. Not to mention those who create websites or blog in a professional way, no matter what profession you are in, having a website is a vital thing today. Where so many websites are constantly growing, the demand for security has also increased a lot. In the news or online, "such a hacker hacked such a website" - the number of such news is innumerable. Many people make websites but often show negligence in security matters, it is important to remember that your site can be hacked by hackers for various reasons, here not only your loss, but also your site visitors may be targeted.

In addition, keeping a website flawed can be very detrimental to your business and traffic. Now you may be thinking, "I have a general blog, where there is no user details, such as - credit card number, bank account, customer details, then why would a hacker want to hack my site?" - OK, you have a lot of arguments, but if you look at it a little differently, hackers can carry out all the worse and more horrible activities besides hacking information after hacking your website. In fact, most of the time, hackers do not target specific websites, they have nothing to do with any site. So why does a hacker want to hack your website? - This article discusses this topic in detail, and outlines some possible reasons.

How do websites get hacked?

Honestly, most websites are hacked by inexperienced hackers (meaning those who are learning new hacking, not yet very skilled) or script kiddies (those who have no special knowledge on programming or hacking, trying to hack using someone else's code). Many hackers hack websites just to increase their skills. The hacker here must be a black hat or an immoral hacker. Many websites have security scanners, which scan websites randomly and help detect any security issues. Many times hackers manually check the web site and find out if there is any security problem.

Many times your site is open to hackers because of your own mistakes. You may be indexing a link to Google that is not indexed at all. Suppose your site has a secure and hidden login page link, where you login to the site by entering. Now suppose that the page is indexed in the Google search results, which means that the hacker will get the login page of your site by doing a little tricky Google search and can attack there to get access. In order to hack a website in a professional way, the hacker must acquire knowledge about the site and collect data. What theme did you use on the site, what software did you build the site with, what plugins are you using, etc. Now maybe there is no problem with your site or your own or the code. But the theme you use or the plugin you use may be flawed, which can easily hack your site.

Hackers collect all the investigation data of your site and check every version of your software, plugin, theme etc. They try to find errors in them, if they use an older version of the theme or plugin, the hacker tries to find out by Google what was wrong with them, whether they can be hacked, this is how he prepares to hack the site. However, when it comes to hacking a targeted website, it takes a long time, as I said before, the hacker has to study the site. Many times the site is hacked using just social engineering without any coding and hacking skills.

All the websites in the world are hacked on two issues. First, the login error. This means that you may have used a common type username or password to log in, which can be easily cracked by a brute force attack. If you use "admin" or "root" as a username, tell me how long it will take to be hacked? Secondly, the website hack is due to a software problem, which we discussed above. All the applications or plugins of the website like computer operating system have to be updated regularly, their security patches have to be applied. Suppose you have used WordPress software to build your website. Now you don't just have to update or patch WordPress, you also have to keep the themes, plugins, everything used on the site updated. And you have to do the basic security practices.

Why do hackers hacked a websites?

Hacking a website or hacked a website is a very common thing, and the newspapers are living witnesses to it. Hacking can be done randomly, hacking can be done to put you behind in business, hacking can be done to steal your customer details. Larger sites are hacked primarily for business purposes, or for deed attacks, so that visitors do not have access to the site. But why would a hacker hack your small and simple web blog? Let's find out some reasons below!

Defacement

This type of hacking is most common in website hacking. Hackers hack a website and post pictures of themselves or their organization on the home page. Their main purpose is to spread their name or the name of the hacking group. They want to show that there is a hacking group with that name. The biggest advantage of this type of hacking is that you can get free advertisement of anything for free. Suppose a site gets 20,000 page views a day, then if every link on that site shows a page attached by a hacker, think about how many free ads have been shown.

Computer power

Many hackers do not hack your site for your website, they do not actually have any transaction on the site, they just hack your site to use your website server or server's computer power. Once you get the computing power of your server, two birds with one stone. He got a free computer and secondly there is no need to pay the electricity bill of that computer. Since a web server is just like any computer in general, it can perform any task. However, hackers especially use computer power to mine digital currency. Such as bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency for mining.

Phishing page

Maybe there is no user data on your site, but hackers can hack your site and hang fake pages. That fake page can be like Facebook or the exact version of Google login page. Most of the time, the user is fooled by such pages and enters his username and password thinking it is the real site. And immediately the login name and password or any entered information such as credit card details go to the hacker. This way hackers can hack your website and steal thousands or millions of user details.

SEO

This type of attack can be called an SEO attack. In particular, hackers from search engines will hack your site in order to rank their own website, hacking will create spam pages that may contain numerous backlinks, which will benefit the hacker. SEO means search engine optimization. Usually Google or search engines give priority to the sites that have the most links to other sites. So hackers continue to hack one site after another, and take backlinks by putting their own site links on those sites.

Spamming

Many times different websites are hacked randomly to send spam mails. Then thousands or millions of mails are sent from the site at once, many times the site owner does not understand anything, but the hacker continues his work. Since your site server is a computer, it is possible to do whatever you want by using that computing power. Hacker Free sends millions of fake mails to different addresses, making it impossible to trace those mails, because the mail is coming from your web server and not from the hacker computer. Hackers can make a lot of money by spamming email, but web server companies have to spend a lot of money, their IP addresses are blacklisted, it takes money to fix them. And I discussed above about spamming to create backlinks for SEO.

Putting Malware

Hackers hack websites and inject malicious code or malicious software. Then when a visitor visits that site and if there is any error in his PC, the malware enters the visitor's computer. This time the malware allows the hacker to earn money in a myriad of ways, such as: hackers can use the infected PC as a botnet, steal all the information from that computer, encrypt all the files on the computer and pay for the files back. Can claim, just as is done in the case of ransomware.

Don't make the mistake of thinking, "Hackers have no interest in my website, my site is small, there aren't many visitors" - from the above paragraphs you must understand how much interest hackers have.

If you have a website of your own, be sure to take special care of security, in the next article I will publish a detailed guide line on website security. However, the best way is to keep a regular backup of your site, so that you can return to the previous version in case of any problem, at least so that your hard work is not lost. It takes a lot of effort to create and run a website, of course you don't want hackers to ruin everything you have. Hope this article was very instructive and important for you.
